Overview
3 roles (requester, focal point, approver) unified into a single, traceable flow
The products: NORTEC (Technical Codes and Standards) and Interage (Safety Interaction Management). Scope: redesign of legacy systems, information architecture for dense screens, approval workflows, inline validation and transactional emails in the Design System. The core problem solved: simplifying heavy enterprise systems, cutting navigation time, form errors and confusion across the different roles (requester, focal point and approver).

The problem
Older enterprise platforms tend to have long forms with no immediate validation, little clarity about which step a process is stuck on, and disconnected views across teams.

Context
NORTEC and Interage were two internal Petrobras systems used by requesters, focal points and approvers in safety and technical-standards processes. Each role saw the process differently, with no shared visual thread between the screens and the email notifications.

Design decisions
Status Stepper & Contextual Actions (Interage): visual progress at the top of the screen, enabling only the buttons that are valid for the current step.

Tree Navigation & Inline Validation (NORTEC): an expandable side structure for finding technical codes, plus real-time field validation in the form.

Dense Tables & Safe CRUD: combined filters and mandatory confirmation modals for destructive actions. Transactional Emails in the DS: approval email notifications were designed with the same visual identity and structure as the web platform.

Outcome
The new design unified the visual language across NORTEC and Interage, reducing confusion between requester, focal point and approver about which step each process was on, and cutting form errors thanks to inline validation.
